Gas protection for Morrisons store

PAGeotechninacal is installing gas protection at a key site for the Morrisons supermarket group. The site, at Whitefield near Manchester, consists of a main Store and also a restaurant building - Café Roma.

Both buildings require gas protection but as the requirenments differ PAGeotechnical proposed a solution that encompassed two different systems.

Gas monitoring showed elevated levels of carbon dioxide, giving it a classification of ‘Characteristic Situation 3’ according to CIRIA 659 guidance. PAGeotechnical therefore proposed Low Energy Clean Air Blanket as a ’best value’ solution for the main store which has a floor area of 7000m². With a more modest footprint of less than 300m², the Café Roma building required a simpler, passive, solution using PAGeotechnical Standard Gas Membrane and PAG 25 geocomposite void former.

PAGeotechnical worked with engineers BSCP in Leeds and contractor Kier North West to gain approval for the proposals and installation began in September 2007. The Café Roma installation was completed in September 07 and the first stage of the main store installation is currently under way. Commissioning of the system and completion of the store is expected July 08.

Prior's Park Wilderness

PAG is playing an important part in restoring one of the UK's historic landscapes, in Bath.

The Wilderness is a key part of the National Trust's Prior Park landscape garden, which is currently under restoration. It includes the 18th century Serpentine Lake and Cascade .

PAGeotechnical has received an order to supply XR3 lining membrane for the site. Seaman Corporation's XR3 is a highly-specialised geomembrane and was chosen for it's proven track record and long life.
